Rangers are accelerating their efforts to sign Westerlo right-back Bryan Reynolds early in the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old is seen as a direct replacement for James Tavernier, with the right-back position having become a priority for Danny Rohl after the captain's departure.

His performances for Westerlo in Belgium have impressed watching scouts, and the Ibrox club are now lining up move with growing hopes of agreeing terms.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Westerlo will be prepared to accept a cut-price offer from Rangers for Reynolds.

The USA international has just one year remaining on his contract, and rather than letting him lose for free, the club are determined to raise money from his sale.

That has placed Rangers on alert, and they are now confident of agreeing a deal for Reyb

Could Rangers complete a deal for Bryan Reynolds?

Football Insider shared reports on 10 June that Rangers are pushing to sign Reynolds and have already tabled a £2.2million offer to lure him to Ibrox.

That deal has reportedly been rejected, but Rangers are expected to return with a new offer which is more likely to be accepted, with his club keen to raise funds from his sale.

Rangers are growing increasingly confident of doing a deal for one of their top transfer targets ahead of what will be a crucial transfer window for Rohl's side.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "He's a player that obviously Rangers are interested in and again, there's a real possibility that a deal could be done.

"He's only got one year left on his contract at Westerlo, so the Belgian club would have to sell him this summer if a decent offer does arrive for him.

"They don't want him to run down his contract and possibly leave on a free transfer, so if they can get some money for him now they will want to do that deal.

"He could be available for a cut price fee and again Reynolds, he's got a decent pedigree so he's definitely a player that Rangers, if they do firm up their interest, will be quite hopeful that they can get a deal done."

What Nathan Patterson has said about returning to Rangers as Everton plan sale

Which other right-backs are on Rangers' radar?

Despite the club growing in confidence that they will be able to do a deal for Reynolds, Rangers are also assessing a number of alternative options at right-back.

Since Tavernier's departure from Ibrox, as well as Max Aarons' return to Bournemouth, the position has emerged as a priority for Rohl.

Football Insider shared reports on 9 June that Everton could accept offers for Nathan Patterson, and the Ibrox academy graduate could make a surprise return to Rangers.

Since leaving the club in 2022, he has struggled to establish himself in the Everton side, and a move back to Scotland could provide him with the ideal opportunity.

Patterson confessed after his move away from Rangers that he would like to return to Ibrox at some stage in his career, and that could come sooner than many expected.
