Rangers have just pulled off 'great' part-exchange deal - Keith Wyness
Rangers deserve "full marks" for their deals to sign Hull City goalkeeper Ivor Pandur and sell Jack Butland in part-exchange.
That is according to former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Light Blues have come out on the right side of those moves.
Rangers confirmed the signing of Pandur for £6million earlier this week, and followed it up by selling Butland to Hull for £3m.
Wyness has hailed the Ibrox outfit for their shrewd business, and believes that Butland was keen to get away and explore a new challenge.
The veteran Englishman kept 12 clean sheets in the Scottish Premiership last term, but faced significant criticism from the fans at times.
Pandur managed 11 clean sheets in the English Championship, and didn't concede a single goal in Hull's victorious play-off campaign.
Keith Wyness: Rangers getting 'upgrade' on Jack Butland
Aberdeen's former chief Wyness - who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs - believes that Pandur will provide Rangers with an "upgrade" on Butland.
The 26-year-old built a strong reputation with his performances at Hull last term, and Wyness expects him to flourish at Ibrox.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, he made it clear that their pair of transfers represent good business for the Gers.
"I think it's a great one for Rangers. They're getting an upgrade in the goalkeeper department," Wyness said.
"Butland's happy with going down there as well. I think he's still got talent. I think a change of scenery will be good for him.
"So I think overall it's great for both clubs; they've done very well with the moves. So full marks to them both."
Rangers ready to accept 'big offer' for Thelo Aasgaard
Football Insider recently revealed that Rangers are planning to accept a "big offer" for Thelo Aasgaard if the right offer is put on the table for him this summer.
The Norway international has recently drawn notable transfer attention from clubs across Europe, with Serie A side Atalanta among those taking a notice.
Rangers have no intention of trying to offload Aasgaard or show him the door, but will consider a sale if a lucrative offer comes in.
The 24-year-old managed just eight goals in 48 appearances last term, but is hoping for a much bigger campaign this time around.
