Rangers are set to battle Celtic for Benjamin Tahirovic’s signature this summer.

The Brondby star has impressed in Denmark this season as they finished fourth in the Superliga.

The 23-year-old is now preparing to go to the 2026 World Cup with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Brondby are hoping that a good performance here could increase his price tag.

According to Sportsport.ba on 27 May, Celtic are the frontrunners for his signature this summer.

However, with the Hoops yet to make an official offer, Rangers could embarrass Celtic and swoop in for the midfielder.

Brondby set to demand £5m for Benjamin Tahirovic

The Daily Record has reported on 28 May that Brondby want £5million for Tahirovic.

Celtic are hoping to make a quick offer before the 2026 World Cup but are currently considering their options, with a manager yet to be appointed ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

This opens the door for Rangers to swoop in and pay the £5m to secure Tahirovic.

Celtic are clearly unprepared for the start of the transfer window, whereas the Gers’ plans have already gone into motion.

Now, if Rangers can secure Tahirovic from right under their rival’s noses, it will be an embarrassment for the Hoops as they miss out on the target they are considered the front runners for.

It could help turn the tide ahead of next season’s title fight, with Tahirovic clearly possessing plenty of quality, which has helped to attract the sudden surge of interest this summer.

Tahirovic’s profile matches Rangers’ transfer strategy

Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness has exclusively told Football Insider that Rangers want to sign young and motivated players this summer.

This strategy has seen the Gers linked to multiple stars with plenty of potential such as Akpe Victory.

Tahirovic meets this profile, with the midfielder only being 23 years old, yet an established international for his country.

If the Gers can get a deal over the line, there is plenty of room for the star to develop further and become a serious player at Ibrox.

However, it remains to be seen if they are able to beat Celtic to his signature, with plenty of twists and turns expected in the transfer window.
