Rangers told to complete Lewis Ferguson swap deal by excited fans
Rangers fans have insisted that the club must pursue a swap deal for Scotland star Lewis Ferguson amid Bologna’s interest in Connor Barron.
It was reported that the Italian club have been long-term admirers of the Gers midfielder, and had pursued a deal in 2024 before his move to Ibrox.
Since then, they have retained interest in the 23-year-old and could try to bring him to the Serie A this summer.
As a result, Rangers fans have claimed that the club should look to pursue a swap deal with Bologna for Ferguson.
The Old Firm club have been heavily linked with the Scotland international this transfer window after an impressive World Cup.
Ferguson has been a huge success in the Serie A and lifted the Coppa Italia with Bologna in 2025.
Rangers fans want Connor Barron and Lewis Ferguson swap deal
The transfer saga surrounding both Ferguson and Rangers continues to drag on this summer.
The Gers have made an enquiry about the 26-year-old’s availability, but understand any deal would be difficult to do, with Bologna valuing him in the eight-figure category.
Therefore, when the Daily Record reported on Bologna’s ongoing interest in Barron, many of the Ibrox faithful saw this as an ideal opportunity.
Despite Barron’s importance to Derek McInnes’ squad, many took to X demanding a swap deal take place so that Ferguson can finally make the move to Rangers this summer transfer window.
Could Ferguson be the answer to Rangers’ prayers?
Based on his performances in the Serie A last season, it is no wonder that Rangers fans want Ferguson to make the move to Ibrox this summer.
According to Fotmob on 6 July, he averaged 8.67 duels won, 1.33 aerial duels won, 3.33 fouls won, 4.00 tackles, 1.33 interceptions and 0.33 clean sheets per 90 minutes in the top-flight.
If this can be replicated in the Scottish Premiership, it could go a long way to solving the club’s defensive issues and tightening up their midfield.
In addition, his added leadership and experience would be a welcome bonus at the Old Firm club.
However, it remains to be seen if Ferguson can be a success at Rangers if the club is able to complete the ambitious swoop this summer.
