Rangers well placed to complete '£5m' Vaclav Cerny signing - 'they'll get it done'
Rangers will get a deal done to re-sign Besiktas winger Vaclav Cerny for as little as £5million this summer.
That is according to former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Czech star is "exactly the type of player" that the Light Blues need right now.
The Ibrox outfit have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old once again this summer, after he enjoyed a hugely productive loan spell in 2024-25.
Recent reports have suggested that Besiktas could sell Cerny if they can recoup the £6m that they paid for him, but Wyness feels that an offer in the region of £5m may tempt them.
Cerny notched 18 goals and nine assists in all competitions during his loan spell at Rangers, and could yet make a return to Glasgow this summer.
New boss Derek McInnes is getting his feet under the table at Ibrox after his move from Hearts, and transfer business is very high on the agenda.
Vaclav Cerny's Scottish Premiership experience perfect for Rangers
Aberdeen's former chief Wyness - who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs - believes that McInnes will place strong value in Cerny's previous Scottish Premiership experience.
The Gers saw their loan move for Andreas Skov Olsen fail to achieve the desired results in the second half of the season, but Wyness feels they would have no such issues with Cerny.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, he suggested that it would be a "very good move" for Rangers to bring him back.
"I think they'll get it done at about £5m, but I do think he's exactly the type of player they need. He's got the experience," the Scottish businessman said.
"McInnes will want that Premiership experience as well. He's a quality player and played well for Rangers.
"There'll probably be some add-ons, but I think they can get it done at £5m, and it's a very good move if they can get Cerny in."
Rangers to beak transfer policy to sign Cerny
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Rangers are prepared to break their new transfer policy if they are able to bring Cerny back.
The wideman would ordinarily be deemed too old for them to explore a deal at 28, given that the club are now trying to target young players with a re-sale value.
However, they are prepared to make an exception for their former star, in a move that would provide a significant boost for the entire club.
Rangers are not capable of paying out a huge fee for Cerny, but are very keen if a cut-price deal is on the table.
