Sources: Rangers to consider 'big' Connor Barron offer amid '£8m' claim
Rangers will consider selling midfielder Connor Barron if a “big offer” comes in for him this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Scotland international has emerged as a clear target for Italian side Bologna in recent days, who are in the market for midfield reinforcements.
Rangers are reluctant to lose Barron at this stage, but are prepared to contemplate a sale in the coming weeks if Bologna put an appealing offer on the table, with reports suggesting the midfielder is valued in the £8-£10million range.
Sources have indicated that Derek McInnes is keen to give Barron a chance to impress in pre-season, having previously worked with him during his time at Aberdeen.
The 23-year-old started just 16 games in the Scottish Premiership last term, and battled injuries for much of the second half of the season.
Rangers still see Barron as a promising talent for the future, but could yet take the money and cash in on him this summer.
Connor Barron to benefit from Derek McInnes reset
McInnes’ arrival in the dugout at Ibrox is set to reset the standing of several fringe players within the first-team squad.
The new boss is expected to give everybody a chance to prove what they are all about ahead of the new season getting underway, and Barron is sure to benefit from that.
He fell out of favour under Danny Rohl in the latter stages of 2025-26, as he failed to truly re-establish himself in the team after his lengthy injury lay-off.
Nicolas Raskin and Tochi Chukwuani largely became the established midfield duo for the Light Blues as the campaign headed towards its close, limiting Barron to little more than a bit-part role.
However, with Raskin’s future at the club up in the air once again, it could yet be all change in the middle of the park come the opening day clash against Dundee United on 31 July.
Bologna's interest in Barron has been consistent in recent weeks, with TeamTalk reporting that he is valued at around the £8-£10m mark.
Bologna to be involved in ‘bidding war’ for second Rangers target
Football Insider revealed at the start of July that Rangers are expecting a “bidding war” for Raskin this summer, with Bologna among a growing list of clubs who are interested in the Belgian.
Hull City and Spanish side Real Betis are also strong admirers of the 25-year-old, who has established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet for the Gers in recent years.
Rangers are ready to respond to the growing interest in their star midfielder by increasing their asking price for him up towards the £25million mark, with a view to an auction playing out.
Bologna view both Raskin and Barron as targets at the moment, and could even end the window having landed both if they play their cards right.
