Rangers midfielder Tochi Chukwuani is ready to consider a move away from Ibrox in January if his game time doesn’t improve, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old is not yet angling for a move away ahead of the winter window, but is prepared to take matters into his own hands if he continues to be left out in the cold.

The Danish star has played just 41 minutes of league football so far this term, and is understood to be far down the midfield pecking order for Derek McInnes.

Sources say that it will be “difficult” for Chukwuani to break into the starting XI moving forward, with McInnes loyal to the midfield duo of Dan Neil and Nicolas Raskin.

Chukwuani also finds himself below other central options in the pecking order at the moment, despite quickly becoming a key figure last term.

He only joined the Gers from Sturm Graz last January, but his exit could already be on the cards if his situation does not improve.

Tochi Chukwuani becoming Rangers' ‘forgotten man’

Rangers spent £4.3million to sign Chukwuani last January, and he was immediately thrust into their team in the middle of the park.

Danny Rohl relied heavily on the youngster as his team tried to rein in Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership, and he made 15 league appearances in the second half of the season.

Chukwuani was seen as a player who Rangers could potentially develop and sell on in the future, and was given a contract until 2029 in order to reflect that.

However, that plan has firmly hit the rocks since McInnes’ arrival, and he is now being seen as something of a “forgotten man” at Ibrox.

He is still yet to start a league game this season, and has played just 10 minutes of competitive football altogether since 2 September.

It has been a rapid fall for Chukwuani in recent months, and it could easily lead to his exit if it is not addressed.

Insider reveals 'clear winner' as Rangers and Celtic race for Max Dowman

Rangers ‘clear winner’ for Max Dowman deal

Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider last week that Rangers will be the “clear winner” to beat Celtic to the signing of young Arsenal prodigy Max Dowman in January.

The Gunners are potentially preparing to loan out the 16-year-old attacking midfielder, with both sides of the Old Firm keen to bring him in.

Wyness believes that Rangers are the far better proposition at the moment for Arsenal, as they would be sending Dowman into a far more stable environment at Ibrox.

However, the boardroom expert believes that the English Championship may ultimately provide an even better fit for the starlet to showcase his talent.
