Rangers manager Derek McInnes has already made his feelings clear about Cammy Devlin.

McInnes has taken over from Danny Rohl in the Ibrox dugout, and he could look to bring Devlin across to Glasgow with him.

Devlin is out of contract at Hearts at the end of the month, where he spent the past season playing under McInnes as they narrowly missed out on the Scottish Premiership title by two points.

The Australian midfielder is weighing up his future with multiple options believed to be on the table from England to the MLS in America.

The 28-year-old has spent the past five years at Tynecastle, and having not yet signed a new contract, it might signal his desire for a new challenge.

Rangers have already signed Devlin's former teammate Lawrence Shankland, who scored 16 Scottish Premiership goals for Hearts last season.

What has Derek McInnes said about Cammy Devlin?

McInnes and Devlin seem to have a strong relationship based on their previous comments of one another.

Three days after an away win at Celtic in December 2025, as per STV, McInnes praised Devlin: “He’s got to take the credit for the improvements in his game this season. I think we’re seeing a lot more maturity and leadership in his performances.

“He’s more prominent, not only when he’s on the ball, but I think he’s got a big influence, and that’s what you want from your central midfield players. In the middle of the pitch, you can influence players around you, in front of you, and behind you.

“People will always be quick to point out what players can’t do, but I prefer to work with players and recognise the strengths and what they can do. Cammy has been a player who has been so consistent, and it’s nice that he’s getting a bit of recognition."

McInnes’ admiration for Devlin would strongly suggest that he wants to keep working with the midfielder.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rangers will back McInnes with the funds to improve his squad this summer.

What has Cammy Devlin said about his future?

Whilst McInnes was Hearts boss, Devlin stated that the pair had been "speaking regularly" about his future.

Speaking to the media at a pre-training camp with Australia at the World Cup earlier this month, Devlin said: “I’ve spoken to my coach at Hearts, me and him have such a great relationship, and we’re speaking regularly at the moment.

"Hearts is such an amazing place. I feel so at home there, so it’s something that I actually don’t know at the moment. I’ve got a World Cup to focus on, so that’s my main priority.”

McInnes’ influence could yet tempt Devlin to consider a move to Rangers, especially given the trust already built between the pair, and with a new manager having not yet been appointed at Hearts.
