Ex-Rangers and Chelsea midfielder Wilkins believes that his two former clubs could help each other out with transfer dealings.
“I don’t quite agree with bringing in B players from Benfica, B players from this and B players from that,” Wilkins told Youtube account Rangers Fans channel. “My way forward would be to take some Chelsea young men up there who aren’t quite getting into the Under-23 side and stick them in there and give them a proper grounding in football.
“Because up there they will get sorted out quite a bit as well, it’s very physical, the referee is totally different to what it is down in England and I think it would do them a world of good.”
Rangers and Chelsea have a close historical bond between them which was utilised recently, with youngster Billy Gilmour making the switch from Ibrox to Stamford Bridge.
Wilkins has hinted that the Gers should look to take some of Chelsea’s talented youngsters on board to help improve their squad.
The Londoners have become renowned in recent years for sending out talented academy stars on loan to give them regular first-team football.
