Real Madrid: Kylian Mbappe future set to be decided as Liverpool hunt marquee deal

Real Madrid could be set to lose Kylian Mbappe amid interest from Liverpool amid a major training ground fallout, sources have told Football Insider.

The 27-year-old has been one of a number of players involved in reported bust-ups behind the scenes at the Bernabeu, placing a number of Premier League clubs on alert.

Significant changes could be set to take place at Los Blancos this summer alongside the arrival of a new manager, who will be key to any major departures.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Mbappe’s future will be decided after their next manager arrives in the summer.

It is considered highly unlikely that the France superstar will be allowed to leave Real Madrid any time soon, but clubs are keeping a close eye as Liverpool make new transfer plans.

Could Liverpool make a move to sign Kylian Mbappe?

Football Insider revealed on 8 May that Liverpool are on alert over Mbappe’s future as one of the few clubs capable of doing the deal financially.

During the period of unrest at the Bernabeu, a petition has been published for the striker to leave Madrid, which has now been signed over 30 million times.

Premier League clubs are on alert over the situation, but as things stand, Real Madrid have no plans to entertain talks and will gauge the next manager’s opinion.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I’m sure they would love the chance to try and Kylian Mbappe, undoubtedly one of the world’s best players.

“He would be a dream signing for the Premier League because he’s still the biggest star probably in football right now, Mbappe.

“It would be great to see him in the Premier League but there’s a lot of hurdles to clear before that would even become a reality.

“Let’s see who the new Real Madrid manager is first and I’m sure they will want to keep Kylian Mbappe.

“It would be a huge financial outlay as well for any club if they were looking to sign Mbappe. Transfer fee, wages all included, there’s only a certain few clubs who could afford that.”

Who will be the next Real Madrid manager?

With the likes of Mbappe and a number of other big-name stars at Real Madrid facing uncertainty over their futures, the next manager appointment will be key.

Interim boss Alvaro Arbeloa has struggled to get a hold on the egos in the dressing room and is set to leave in the summer, opening the door for his replacement.

Football Insider revealed on 10 May that Jose Mourinho could return to Real Madrid as they continue to assess a number of options to fill the vacancy.

Benfica are keen to keep hold of their boss, but he may find it difficult to turn down a return to Spain, with Florentino Perez keen on a reunion.

Madrid have also been linked with moves for the likes of Unai Emery, Mauricio Pochettino and Didier Deschamps, but Mourinho is the leading candidate.
