Reliable journalist provides update on Tottenham 24-year-old reportedly leaving

Kevin Wimmer will remain at Tottenham beyond the January transfer window, according to a reliable journalist.

The 24-year-old’s agent claimed last week that there was plenty of interest in the fringe Spurs centre-back, with a January move potentially on the cards.

However, ESPN’s Tottenham correspondent Dan Kilpatrick revealed on his personal Twitter account that he had been told there is “no truth” in the exit rumours surrounding Wimmer.

Wimmer has struggled to gain a regular place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, with the likes of Eric Dier, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld all starting above him.

Earlier this month, the Evening Standard named Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund alongside Wolfsburg and Southampton as three clubs interested in the defender.

Tottenham’s number 27 moved to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2015 for around £4.3million from German outfit Koln, and has remained in north London since.

Signing a new long-term contract in the summer that will keep him at Tottenham until June 2021, Wimmer had looked to see out his long-term future with Spurs.

But after playing just five times this season and plummeting down the pecking order, Wimmer was touted as looking into the possibility of jumping ship.

Kilpatrick has revealed, though, that Wimmer will now remain at White Hart Lane for the time being.

In other Tottenham transfer news, this report claims Spurs are interested in a move for this Real Madrid defender which could push Wimmer even further down the centre-back rankings.
