Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho will fly out to London this week as West Ham look to finalise a stunning near-£40million transfer, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims that the East London club have tabled a bid worth £29.5million plus £8million in add ons to the Portuguese side for the 25-year-old.
The newspaper reports Carvalho is desperate to secure a move to the Premier League side and he will travel to England in the next seven days although both clubs have yet to reach an agreement over the fee.
The midfield enforcer has spent his entire career with the club from the Portuguese capital, making over 150 appearances in all competitions.
Cavalho was also a key member of the Portugal national team who won the European Championships in France last year, featuring in all but one of the matches throughout the tournament.

The midfielder currently has three years remaining on his contract with the top-flight Portuguese outfit.
Football Insider verdict
After a terrible opening day display on Sunday, West Ham should do everything within their power to secure the midfielder’s signature before next week’s match against Southampton. The Hammers were seriously overrun in the midfield against Manchester United on the weekend and they missed a player of Carvalho’s ability to break up the play and provide them with extra defensive cover. The midfielder’s arrival would be a slight shift to their transfer policy this summer where they have pursued players with Premier League experience but Carvalho has already produced on the international and Champions League stage during his short career and he would be a great addition to the current West Ham squad.
In other West Ham news, supporters have destroyed this summer signing after his display against Manchester United on Sunday.
