Tottenham to green light stunning deal worth £25m-plus in wages - report

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld is set to be handed a stunning £25million contract to keep him at the club, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claim that the 28-year-old is in line for a new deal which could see him double his £50,000-a-week wages.
Alderweireld has a contract at White Hart Lane which expires in 2019, with Tottenham having the option of taking up an additional year.
If that were to happen then it would trigger a £25million release clause in his contract as the report suggests that is likely be taken out during re-negotiations.
It is said that any agreement with Alderweireld is likely to last five years, meaning the new deal would be worth more than £25million, as Spurs don’t want to risk an unsettled squad by having some star players on greater wages.

The report points out how striker Harry Kane and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris are the club’s top earners with the duo earning £100,000-a-week each.
Centre-back Alderweireld has been a key player for Mauricio Pochettino’s Premier League title-chasing side this season.
He has played 25 league matches, including the last three games for Spurs where they have picked up maximum points added with three clean sheets.
The Mail report how Tottenham are aware that there is interest in their player, both from home and abroad, but they don’t want to sell their man.
At this moment in time, Pochettino’s team are four points behind leaders Chelsea in the table, with both teams in action at the weekend against Arsenal and Everton respectively.
In other Tottenham transfer news, a deal is close as Spurs are in advanced talks to sign this winger.
