Everton are eyeing Wolves attacker Helder Costa, according to a report.
News outlet HITC has claimed that the Toffees have told his representative Jorge Mendes that they would take 23-year-old if he became available in January.
However, the Merseysiders aren’t the only Premier League team mentioned, with Southampton, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough, West Ham and Hull also keen to obtain the former Portugal Under-21 international.
The young attacker is currently on a season-long loan deal in the Midlands from European giants Benfica.
However, it is believed that Mendes is ready to ask the Portuguese club to recall him and send him to the English top flight.
The player has been prolific for a struggling Wolves team so far this campaign with six assists and nine goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.
However, he has had spells in La Liga and Ligue 1 with Deportivo and Monaco respectively, which didn’t work out as well.
Meanwhile, Everton have already purchased from the Football League this window with Ademola Lookman completing a £7.5million move from League One side Charlton.
The Toffees loaned out Gerard Deulofeu to AC Milan on Monday and Ronald Koeman may now be looking to bring in some more players to add to his squad.
Football Insider verdict:
It is clear looking at the Everton team that some young blood is still needed in their attack, particularly the wide areas. Enner Valencia, Kevin Mirallas and Aaron Lennon are all experienced. However, it is felt that their best days may be behind them. Koeman is now taking the right approach with signings such as Lookman, who will only get better in the future. Costa would fit into this mould and he has so far been a huge success in England since making the switch in the summer. However, the Toffees should avoid an initial permanent move and look to take him on loan, similarly to what Wolves did due to his lack of Premier League experience.
