Paul Heckingbottom is pushing for a reunion with right-back Andy Yiadom but faces an internal battle to bring him to Elland Road, according to a repot.
The Star claims that Heckingbottom is convinced that the 26-year-old is the man to provide depth and competition to Luke Ayling, but say that others in the club are not so sure.
Heckingbottom was the man who took the 5ft 9 powerhouse to Barnsley and Premier League Swansea were also after his signature last summer.
As revealed by Football Insider, Celtic have an interest in Yiadom too.
Football Insider verdict:
Leeds fans might not be blown away by the prospect of Yiadom but he’s a versatile player who could offer real depth and Championship experience to the squad. he can play on either flank and in midfield, and the pedigree of the clubs after him should be a good sign that as a free agent, he would represent a significant bargain. There are two sticking points. Firstly, it sounds like someone in the Leeds hierarchy is not so sure and that could be Victor Orta. Secondly, Luke Ayling is established as the club’s right-back and Yiadom will be keen to sign for someone who can offer him first-team football – especially in the Championship. he’s not going to sign to sit on the bench. However, with money tight at Elland Road, a couple of free-agent buys would leave Orta to focus on the areas that really need attention – a centre-back and a striker.
