Report: Top-flight team prepare imminent offer for Aston Villa first-teamer
By Aramide Oladipo
Marseille are preparing to make an imminent move for Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi, according to a report.
French radio station RMC claim that the Ligue 1 side are set to table a loan offer with an option to buy the 23-year-old for around £6.3million in the upcoming hours.
The report claims that Marseille are looking to provide more cover in the left full-back position with former Manchester United man Patrice Evra currently the number one choice at the club.
Marseille are not the only Ligue 1 side being linked with a move for the full-back as the Birmingham Mail recently reported that French champions Monaco held discussions with the player’s representatives.
Amavi was an important part of the Villa first-team squad last season, making a total of 36 appearances in all competitions.

The Frenchman’s current contract at Villa Park runs out in 2020.
Football Insider verdict
Amavi looks destined to leave the club this summer. The Frenchman was on the verge of leaving Villa Park earlier in the transfer window but his deal with La Liga side Sevilla fell through with neither club content with how the situation panned out. The player himself has stayed relatively quiet throughout the summer but speculation surrounding his future is constant. With Villa seemingly willing to allow the defender to depart, Amavi might be convinced to return to his native country and Marseille is a big club in France and they are also competing in the Europa League this season. Both parties should really try and find a solution especially with both campaigns about to get underway this weekend.
