A top Italian agent has revealed that Emre Can has agreed to join Juventus at the end of the season when his contract expires at Liverpool FC, according to a report.
The German international’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Can is able to sign a pre contract agreement with a foreign club before his current contract runs out.
The Liverpool Echo report that Federico Pastorello has claimed Can will not budge over his terms with Liverpool, and has instead decided to join Juventus.
“Emre Can is a huge coup, even more so because he’ll arrive on a free transfer. Marotta and Paratici have done very well.
“Juventus are a club that attract champions, and important signals are coming from the German.”
Brendan Rodgers signed Can for the Reds back in 2014, and the German has gone on to make over 150 appearances for the club, in all competitions.
Reds fans will be sad to see the powerful midfielder leave, but a suitbale replacement is on his way in the shape of Naby Keita.
Football Insider verdict:
Emre Can is a brilliant young footballer, whose true potential has not yet been unlocked. Can has shown glimpses of his talent at Liverpool, but you get the feeling the 24-year-old can go on to be one of the world’s greats. Juventus stealing him on a free transfer would be a wonderful piece of business, and Can would team up with compatriot Sami Khedira. Naby Keita’s imminent arrival makes this pill a little easier to swallow, but Can would still have earned regular first team football even with Keita in the mix. One consideration in the fact that Juventus are more likely to win trophies are Liverpool, which is often the reasoning behind transfers in this day and age.
