Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas has laughed off suggestions he could join Liverpool, according to a report in Spain.
Diario Gol report that the Reds made an offer for the Costa Rican international during the winter transfer window, but the 31-year-old does not want to move to Anfield.
They quote him as saying quite simply, “I do not want to go to Liverpool.”
Navas’s place in Real Madrid’s starting lineup has come under scrutiny of late, leading to suggestions he could leave the club – with Sevilla and Liverpool reportedly interested in his services.
However it does not seem likely that Navas will join the Reds, as he boldly stated to Diario Gol that he has no intentions of leaving Madrid.
Football Insider verdict:
Keylor Navas is a talented keeper, but it seems he is having issues this season at Real Madrid. Navas has won the Champions League twice with Madrid, alongside a list of other major honours. Perhaps this is a causal factor for him not wanting to relocate, as up until now it has been more likely that Real Madrid will win trophies as opposed to Liverpool, or Sevilla. We could see some movements at the end of the season, as it is widely anticipated that Madrid are going to have a clearout so that they can begin challenging Barcelona once more. Navas could be one of the names who are heading for a summer exit – but seemingly not to Liverpool.
In other Liverpool transfer news, it has been reported that the Reds are ready to pounce on this soon to be out of contract Arsenal ace.
