Report names six players who could join Tottenham before next week's transfer deadline

By Harvey Byrne

A report has named as many as six players who could potentially join Tottenham before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.

It has been a fairly quiet window for the north London club after last season’s runners-up finish with only Davinson Sanchez and Paulo Gazzaniga joining in the past few days.

However, it could soon kick into life for Mauricio Pochettino’s side with the Daily Mail specifically naming Everton and Manchester City attackers Ross Barkley and Jadon Sancho alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Fulham full-backs Serge Aurier and Ryan Sessegnon as remaining in the north London club’s eyes.

Meanwhile, Estudiantes starlet Juan Foyth is said to be expected to now join Tottenham, while talks are reportedly ongoing with Spanish club Celta Vigo over a deal for young midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop.

Tottenham last brought in six players in a single window in the summer of 2013 when they added seven to their squad after the sale of former star Gareth Bale.

Therefore, it is unlikely that all named will join, but Tottenham fans will surely keep an excited eye on these developments.

Football Insider verdict:

All of the named players follow the same quota of being young and still having time to grow. Each of Foyth, Cheikh Diop, Sancho and Sessegnon would not be expected to make an instant impact on the first team and they would be investments for the future. Meanwhile, both Barkley and Aurier are considered established professionals at this stage of their career, but they are still not yet the finished articles. However, if Tottenham are looking at all these players then it is likely that some of the squad will also have to be cleared and it could be set to be a busy last week of the summer window for the north London club.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Foyth is reportedly flying into London.
