Teenage defender starlet Juan Foyth is flying from Argentina to London on Wednesday afternoon after agreeing a transfer to Tottenham, according to a report.
Argentine news outlet Diario Hoy have claimed on their website on Wednesday that the 19-year-old has agreed a switch from home country side Estudiantes for £9.6million and that he has agreed to travel “this afternoon.”
The report follows claims made by the Daily Mail on Tuesday stating that Spurs expect talks to develop “over the next 24 hours” for Foyth.
It would now seem that, that has happened with the young centre-back prospect believed to be closing in on a move to the Premier League.
Foyth has already made six first team appearances for the Argentine top-flight side at his young age and if a move to Tottenham is completed then he will be looking to learn from one of his country’s great centre-back’s in Mauricio Pochettino in north London.
Football Insider verdict:
Foyth’s signing is one with the future in mind for Tottenham and he will unlikely make an immediate impact on the Spurs first team. Little is known of the Argentine youngster outside of his home country, but Argentina is obviously a country that Pochettino has a good knowledge of and if he thinks Foyth is worth adding to the Spurs team then fans will certainly back it. It is not a big name addition and neither is it one that will get fans off their seats. However, in the future it could work to be a very good piece of business for Tottenham, especially at just £9.6million.
