Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to green light the sale of Danny Rose to Manchester United with a stunning offer of £40million plus Luke Shaw on its way, according to a report.
The Sun claim that the Argentine boss was not keen on letting his 27-year-old star leave north London but would be willing to see him go for a big money deal which included a swap for United’s 22-year-old.
It is said that Shaw holds no future at Old Trafford after arguing with Jose Mourinho over his future and that the Portuguese boss is willing to use the former Southampton man as a makeweight to snap up 16-cap England international Rose, who has made just 14 appearances this season since returning from injury.
Shaw meanwhile has 17 outings under his belt during the current campaign, although just eight of those have come in the Premier League, and signed for Manchester United for £30million.
Football Insider verdict
While Shaw is certainly not valued anywhere near the price that Manchester United paid for him back in 2014, it is still a sensational deal that the Red Devils are putting on the table. Rose’s stock has hardly risen since his major injury layoff and if anything, Spurs should be lucky to be getting anywhere near the £40million mooted – let alone the prospect of getting a young prospect with international experience too. There are three winners if this deal, but not one of those is Jose Mourinho or Ed Woodward. Mauricio Pochettino replaces a player barely playing for him with a younger model, while Rose and Shaw both get the moves they desire.
