Report: This is when £10m-rated player could make Aston Villa transfer, discussions taking place
By Amir Mir
Jordan Ayew could make a switch from Aston Villa to China right up until February 28, according to a report.
The Birmingham Mail claim that the £10million-rated forward is still attracting the interest of Chinese Shanghai SIPG as his representatives have been discussing a move away from the club since Villa’s relegation.
It is said Ayew is still in the thoughts of a number of clubs in China, but with their window slamming shut next month a transfer away from Villa could transpire at a later stage.
The 25-year-old is currently away on international duty where he is representing Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Ayew has failed to live up to the club’s billings this season, scoring just two goals during this campaign as Villa have struggled for firepower up front in the Championship.

It is claimed that the versatile attacker would prefer a move to the Premier League but the cut-off point for the January transfer window in England is on Tuesday at midnight.
Furthermore, it is understood that manager Steve Bruce needs to raise funds to bring in Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes, with Ayew or the demoted Ross McCormack the likely players to make way.
Football Insider verdict:
Villa should either sell Ayew in January or keep him at the club for the rest of the Championship season. Selling the Ghana international in February will not help the club’s cause as they will not be able to add any players to their squad because the transfer window will be shut in England. If a deal can be made to sell the versatile attacker before Tuesday’s deadline then it should be actioned. Otherwise, they should keep Ayew – even though he has not been spectacular this season, he can still cause problems coming off the bench.
