Report: Tottenham 24-year-old keen to move on as PL quartet circle, hoped to leave before weekend
By Harvey Byrne
Tottenham centre-back Kevin Wimmer is keen to move away from the north London club with Premier League quartet West Brom, Southampton, Stoke and Crystal Palace circling, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claimed on their website that the Spurs 24-year-old is seeking regular first team football after struggling for game time in the last campaign and that he had hoped to conclude his transfer by the weekend.
However, with just hours to go until the weekend starts it looks as though Wimmer may have to wait a while longer before officially completing his move away from Tottenham.
The Mail report follows claims by the Telegraph that Spurs were in advanced talks with the Baggies in a deal worth an initial £15million which could then rise to a potential £20million.
However, there was no indication of how Wimmer felt about the move, but it would now seem the defender, who competed in 31 matches in total for Tottenham wants the move.

Football Insider verdict:
Given that it’s a World Cup year many players who have a chance of playing in Russia next summer will be seeking regular first team football and Austrian Wimmer certainly has a chance of making next year’s tournament. However, if he remains at Tottenham then his chances on going will depend on who Austria have in there centre-back ranks. With the imminent signing of Davinson Sanchez to Spurs also it is looking like Wimmer’s sale would be in the interests of all parties involved.
In other Tottenham transfer news, this imminent Spurs signing looked like he was heading to Barcelona.
