Tottenham are “crazy” about Isco and are keen to push ahead with a January swoop for the Real Madrid playmaker, according to a report.
Spanish publication Marca claim that Spurs are keen to take advantage of Isco’ situation at the Spanish giants in the winter transfer window.
It is said that the Londoners are “counting the days” to when they can make a formal move for the 24-year-old.
Spurs manager Maurico Pochettino is a big admirer of Isco and believes his club cannot miss the opportunity to try and sign the Spain international.
Marca claim Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is keen on trying to thrash out an agreement in January because he believes there will be less competition for the player’s services.
Isco, 24, has fallen down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane and the likes of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos are preferred in the central midfield positions by the manager.
Spurs were interested in signing Isco during the summer and Pochettino personally phoned the Spanish playmaker to enquire about his services during the recent window.
The report details that the London club could be hampered in talks with Real because of the troubled relationship between Levy and Bernabeu officials, largely as a result of tense negotiations during the transfers of Modric and Gareth Bale .
Isco announced himself on the European stage during his Malaga spell and eventually caught the eye of giants Real.
Since his £25million arrival in 2013, the Spaniard has made 154 appearances for Real and scored 22 goals and supplied 35 assists across all competitions.
Spurs have started the season in great form and are just a point behind league leaders Manchester City in the Premier Leauge, after beating them 2-0 last weekend at White Hart Lane.
Pochettino’s side are now being considered as serious title contenders and the capture of Isco would add further quality to their squad.
