Tottenham are among a host of clubs eyeing up a potential transfer swoop for Real Betis’ midfield revelation Fabian Ruiz, according to a report.
Spanish publication Marca claim on their website that Spurs are joined by English rivals Manchester United and Leicester City, as well as Italian giants Roma, in the hunt for the 21-year-old’s signing this month.
It is said that the youngster has a release clause of £13million (€15million) in his contract, and that it is Roma who are willing to make the first move to activate it and secure his signature.
The 3-cap Spain under-21 international has only established himself as a regular in Betis’ starting line up this season, with 11 starts from his 16 appearances across all competitions, which have resulted in two goals and two assists.
Football Insider verdict
It looks as though Spurs might have a hard time securing the youngster’s signing with Roma leading the charge, but if Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to snap him up then there is no doubt he will do all he can. The midfielder is yet to establish himself as a top flight star in Spain just yet but the signs look promising for him to really flourish wherever he might be playing. What about those currently at Spurs? Well Fabian’s arrival would be as a fringe player, so there might not need be any departures, but it would certainly mean added competition going forward.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club are set to open talks over securing a £100,000-a-week deal secured for an international hero wanted by European giants.
