Tottenham are leading the race to sign Everton ace Ross Barkley in the summer, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claim that the north London club are at the front of the queue to sign Barkley, who recently revealed that he wants to play Champions League football.
It is said that long-term admirers Spurs believe the 23-year-old has improved under Ronald Koeman after Mauricio Pochettino doubted whether he could play in the same team as Dele Alli.
The Spurs’ manager’s belief that Barkley and Alli could link up to terrorise opponents has led to a firm conviction that they should strongly pursue the Everton academy product.
Boyhood Toffees fan Barkley broke onto the Premier League scene as a teenager with his contract at Goodison Park due to expire in 2018.

It is said the Merseyside club want him to sign a new deal but they could cash in on him this summer with his value set to dip.
Barkley has been linked with a number of leading Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal, in recent days.
Barkley was named in the England squad for the up and coming international fixtures after being dropped from the national set-up following the humiliating exit from Euro 2016.
Since the turn of the year, the highly-rated playmaker has played ten Premier League games, scoring one goal and providing five assists.
Football Insider verdict:
From Spurs’ perspective signing Barkley would be a very good move because it would add depth and quality to their squad. They are on course to play Champions League football again next season but they need more top quality players beyond their starting XI. Barkley’s ability to run with the ball, create chances, would suit the club’s style, in particular, their star striker Harry Kane. Furthermore, the boyhood Toffees fan would vastly improve under Pochettino, just like Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose have done.
