Tottenham have launched an approach to Paris Saint Germain over a potential loan move for winger Lucas Moura, according to a report.
French sport news outlet Le 10 Sport claim on their website that the north London club have made a move to secure a temporary deal of the Brazilian wing wizard, with the same publication stating that Spurs’ Premier League rivals Manchester United have been on the hunt for his signing since December.
It is said that Mauricio Pochettino has joined managerial counterpart Jose Mourinho in trying to secure a loan move for the 35-cap international, although the French giants are reportedly seeking to offload the 25-year-old permanently.
The versatile wide man, who can operate on either flank, has struggled to nail down a place in the starting XI with PSG, having made just six appearances and one goal across all competitions this season, after having struck 19 times and chipped in with 11 assists in 53 outings during the last campaign.
Football Insider verdict
There is no doubt that Lucas is a player of the highest calibre, and it will be a link that gets every Tottenham fan excited. He is the next level capture that they are seeking to boost their chances of success both domestically and on the European stage, and it demonstrates his talent when two of England’s biggest clubs are fighting for his signing. However, where would he fit into Pochettino’s plans? He is not one to make use of natural wingers and there is no way Lucas would be willing to play a bit-part role. Whether the Argentine boss would be willing to make changes is something which would have to be considered, but it is still an exciting link for Spurs.
