Report: Manchester United line up £40m trade with Tottenham, player-plus-cash swap to be offered
By Amir Mir
Manchester United and Tottenham are looking at a possible swap plus cash deal involving Luke Shaw and Kyle Walker, according to a report.
The Express claim that United manager Jose Mourinho could use left-back Shaw, 21, as bait in order to land Walker, 26, from their Premier League rivals ahead of their City neighbours.
It is said that Spurs rate Walker at around £40million and could be offered Shaw, who is rated around £30million, plus a cash adjustment by the Manchester club to seal the deal.
Right-back Walker has seen his game time reduced in recent weeks, with Kieran Trippier selected to start four of the last eight league games the two players have been available for.
The report also details how Shaw and Walker are keen to leave their respective clubs with the latter aware he could double his £70,000-a-week wages at United, with Chelsea also interested in his signature.

However, it is said that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy isn’t too keen on selling to a rival London club which will leave both Manchester clubs to battle it out for Walker.
Southampton academy graduate Shaw has been hit with a number of injuries in recent seasons and has found himself on the end of a number of verbal attacks from Mourinho.
The Portuguese has seemingly stated that the left-back cannot play through the pain barrier as he wasn’t too protective following Shaw’s most recent injury.
Shaw worked with Pochehttino during his time at St Mary’s and it is said that the youngster is keen on a reunion with his former boss who wanted to sign him last summer.
Football Insider verdict:
Shaw would be a very good signing for Spurs and simply needs a clean slate in his career. His best performances have come under Pochettino when they were at Southampton and the Argentine can bring the best out of the highly-rated defender once again. As for Walker, if he is keen to leave the club then Spurs should get rid of any players that don’t want to play for them. Pochettino needs to build his team and take them to the next level. In order for him to do that, he needs all of his players behind him.
