Patrick Thistle manager Alan Archibald has claimed Celtic’s squad is so powerful their reserves could win the Scottish Premiership title.
The struggling joint bottom-of-the-table side will go head-to-head with Celtic in the league on Friday evening and Archibald believes his opponents have so much money they can win the league with two teams.
Celtic are currently unbeaten in the league this season and have a hugely commending lead at the top of the table, with three games in hand.
They are already eight points clear over Rangers and the Hoops are expected to extend that lead when they play their remaining three fixtures.
Archibald claims Brendan Rodgers could name his reserves and still win the league so it’s up to the other clubs to work together to knock them off their perch.
“The difference in budgets is there for all to see. It makes it so tough. It’s down to the rest of us collectively to take points off them and hopefully that will allow one of the other sides to sustain a challenge,” said Archibald, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“They probably have two teams that could win the league.”
Patrick Thistle have been defeated by Celtic in their last 10 head-to-head clashes and given their recent form under Rodgers, that statistic is unlikely to change.
They picked up an encouraging 1-1 draw against Hamilton last Saturday but Celtic were once again in excellent form as they overcame a shocking first half performance against Motherwell to secure a 4-3 victory.
