With Brendan Rodgers revealing, as quoted by the Daily Record, that Tom Rogic is set to return from a knee injury sooner rather than later, the news could be the boost the Hoops need after some indifferent performances.
If we look at the Hoops’ last match before the winter break, the goalless Old Firm derby, it was a game that was crying out for the Australian international.
The 25-year-old could have added a new dimension of play to the Bhoys whilst they were struggling to create chances in the second-half of the game.
The Bhoys seem to lack something in their team when Rogic doesn’t play.
He has the guile and creativity to find space that no other player in Scottish football has.
Rogic’s knack of scoring important goals has been missed. His runs from midfield, and ability to beat his man lead to the winning goal in the Scottish Cup Final against Aberdeen, and his good finishing resulted in the opening goal against Rangers in September.
With the Hoops looking jaded in December, as shown in the poor performances against Hearts, Anderlecht and Rangers, the return of a playmaker like Rogic could be the difference between the Bhoys winning another domestic treble or their season petering out.
