With Celtic returning to pre-season training on Monday, one player who will be looking to catch the eye of Brendan Rodgers is Ryan Christie.
The 23-year-old has finally returned to the Hoops after 18 months at Aberdeen, and the upcoming weeks of pre-season could turn out to be make or break for his future at the club.
The attacking midfielder did well for the Dons in his time at Pittodrie, but he will have to make a big step up in quality if he is to make an impact with the Hoops.
With only a year left to run on his contract, Christie will really have to impress Rodgers in training and in the Hoops’ pre-season games if he is to get a new deal with the Scottish champions.
In a way it is slightly unfair to the player that he will have to try and prove himself in such a short period of time, but that is just the way of modern football.
Christie rarely featured for the Hoops before his move to Aberdeen, although he did play some minutes for the side when Rodgers first took over, scoring a goal at St Johnstone, so the Bhoys boss obviously does see a player in Christie.
The Hoops have so many players in attack though that you have to be really special to stand-out, and Christie will need to show that in the days in weeks ahead to keep his Hoops dreams alive.
