Aston Villa are closely monitoring Jose Sa's situation at Wolves ahead of a potential summer move, sources have told Football Insider.

Sa is a client of Jorge Mendes' Gestifute agency and the super agent has increasingly strong links to Aston Villa.

Unai Emery's side could be in the market for a new goalkeeper amid doubts over the future of in-demand shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez.

Man United, Tottenham and Chelsea all have an active interest in the World Cup winner’s situation and are weighing up formal moves in the summer window.

Martinez signed a new and improved contract in January 2022 which runs until June 2027 - and thus it is believed it would take a “huge” fee well north of £45million to do a deal.

The 30-year-old has conceded 38 goals and kept 13 clean sheets across 36 appearances this season with Aston Villa pushing for European qualification.

Meanwhile, Sa has kept 12 clean sheets and conceded 52 goals in 38 games across all competitions for Wolves this term.

The 2021 signing has been dropped from Julen Lopetegui's starting lineup in the last two games.

That is a significant fall from grace for Sa, who scooped the Players’ Player of the Season and Supporters’ Player of the Season awards after impressing in his debut season at Wolves.

Sa arrived at Molineux for a reported fee of around £6.25million, signing a contract which runs until June 2026.
