Celtic are ready to cash in on Olivier Ntcham this summer for around £7million, Football Insider understands.
The Hoops hierarchy are aware the French midfielder, 23, is unsettled in Glasgow and is keen to move to a new club despite signing a new contract last November that has three more years to run.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider the club do not expect to get anywhere near the £14million that Porto were reportedly prepared to pay for Ntcham last summer and again in January.
The Portugese big hitters still have an interest in signing the central midfielder but are likely to bid at around half of that sum, and the treble chasers are open to a sale.
Ntcham, who was signed from Manchester City for £4.5million in the summer of 2017, has made 36 appearances this season, scoring six goals, but is no longer a nailed-on starter and has begun just 16 SPL matches.
Former Celtic full-back Jackie McNamara has told Football Insider that Ntcham’s standards have plummeted after an impressive debut campaign.
“I think last year he did really well, he came into it, he looked a fantastic midfielder,” McNamara said. “This year he’s tailed off and he didn’t look sharp or on it in the game fitness wise.
“Maybe it’s second season syndrome, sometimes a player comes in, the first season they’re incredible, the second year, it usually happens with the younger ones… Whether or not he can regain his form next year, if he’s still there – that’s the big thing.”
