Leeds United have agreed to pay a fee of £300,000 for attacking midfielder Morten Spencer, Football Insider understands.

The starlet, 15, has signed a contract with the Championship promotion hopefuls after quitting Sunderland's academy earlier this year.

A club source has told Football Insider that Leeds must pay a compensation fee to the League One big hitters for developing Spencer, who is an England youth international.

The six-figure sum has been settled after the Yorkshire giants beat a string of rival clubs to the signature of the youngster, including Premier League champions Manchester City.

The signing of Spencer, who can play in any of the three attacking positions behind the main striker, is regarded as a major coup for Leeds.

He was one of the top talents at the highly-regarded Sunderland academy and Leeds' scouts and recruitment team have high hopes he has a big future at their club.
