Everton are not in the race to sign Burnley striker Wout Weghorst in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told this site that the Merseysiders will be in the market for a new forward - but the 30-year-old does not figure on Sean Dyche's wanted list.

Weghorst has been widely linked with a summer move to Goodison Park following the conclusion of his Man United loan.

It is believed that the Netherlands international also doesn’t figure in the plans of Vincent Kompany at parent club Burnley.

Weghorst managed just two goals and three assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for Ten Hag’s side - failing to score in 17 Premier League outings.

He notched just two goals in 20 top-flight games for Burnley in the 2021-22 campaign after he was signed in the January window to help them stave off the threat of relegation.

The striker's contract at Turf Moor runs until June 2025.

Everton are keen to add a new striker to their squad following continued injury problems for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the woeful form of 2022 signing Neal Maupay.

The Toffees were the second-lowest scorers of any Premier League side in the 2022-23 campaign despite managing to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Calvert-Lewin and Maupay scored just three combined goals in the top flight.
