Sheffield United are to announce the signing of Preston North End forward Callum Robinson after he finalised the paperwork on a £6million transfer, Football Insider understands.
The newly-promoted Premier League club are poised to unveil the 24-year-old later today as their third summer recruit after the captures of Luke Freeman and Phil Jagielka.
A Sheffield United source has told Football Insider that Robinson has now agreed personal terms and completed a medical at the club, with the deal all now completed.
This comes after Football Insider broke the news yesterday that United were the unnamed club who Preston had accepted an offer from for Robinson granted him permission to leave their training camp in Ireland to complete a move.
The capture of Robinson is regarded by Chris Wilder as a major boost given they have fended off interest from Norwich City to get him.
Robinson has been a prolific scorer and creator at Preston for the last three years, netting 41 goals and providing 21 assists from 160 matches in all competitions.
The Aston Villa academy product can play anywhere across the front line but is predominantly a left winger.
The six-times Republic of Ireland international scored 13 goals from just 28 matches last season, enough to convince Championship expert Wilder to push strongly to sign him.
In other Sheffield United news, it can be REVEALED that Birmingham City, Hull City and Wigan Athletic are plotting bids to sign one of Chris Wilder’s strikers.
