Centre-back great Rio Ferdinand has named Tottenham trio Hugo Lloris, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane in his Premier League team of the week.
The north London club earned a vital victory over Bournemouth at this late stage of the season as they demolished the Cherries with a 4-0 win at White Hart Lane.
Midfielder Mousa Dembele opened the scoring before Son doubled it up just three minutes later.
Spurs went in at half time at 2-0, but goals from Kane and substitute Vincent Janssen saw them complete a rout against the south coast club.
Now, Ferdinand has hailed goal scorers Son and Kane in his team of the week, while naming Lloris for his clean sheet kept.
“Goalkeeper. Hugo Lloris, back to back 4-0’s, back to back clean sheets. He’s in,” stated Ferdinand on his YouTube channel when talking about the Frenchman’s inclusion.
He then went on to praise Son for continuing to score even with the return of star forward Kane: “Across the midfield, Son. Tottenham’s man when Harry Kane isn’t there. Harry Kane’s back. He still steps up with a goal.”
Ferdinand then praised Kane’s goal scoring return, with his strike on Saturday seeing him placed alongside some of the best strikers to have graced the game after he hit 20 for the third time in consecutive seasons.
“Upfront we welcome the big man back, Harry Kane. What does he do? He blesses us with a goal on his return. That’s what he does. He scores goals. Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer, Ruud van Nistelrooy. Only three other players to have banged in for three consecutive seasons 20 goals. Harry Kane’s now done that. He’s in.”
Tottenham’s emphatic victory saw them close the gap on league leaders Chelsea to just four points after they fell to a defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Spurs team will now be hoping they can overthrow rivals Chelsea and earn their first ever Premier League title with the likes of Son, Kane and Lloris likely to prove key to the club’s success.
