Robbie Savage delivers verdict on Tottenham chances of catching Chelsea
By Will Butcher
Robbie Savage believes Tottenham have no chance of catching Chelsea at the top of the Premier League with eight games to go.
Spurs closed the gap to seven points at the weekend by beating Burnley 2-0, as Crystal Palace upset the Blues 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Both teams won in midweek to keep the gap the same going into this weekend’s games.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Savage claimed that the Premier League trophy should be given to Antonio Conte’s side now as seven points is too big a deficit to make up for Spurs.
“Chelsea bounced back with a superb victory over Manchester City after losing at home to Crystal Palace. I said before Christmas ‘just give Chelsea the title’.”

“Spurs, I believe, are the only team that will put up a fight if anyone is going to challenge Chelsea. Seven points is too big a gap, I don’t think they will lose three games.”
Mauricio Pochettino’s side came within a whisker of immediately surrendering the three points they clawed back off Chelsea, by almost losing on Wednesday night against Swansea.
Trailing 1-0 until the 88th minute, Spurs rallied to earn a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-Min to match Chelsea’s win against Man City.
Spurs face Watford on Saturday lunchtime at White Hart Lane, and a win will see them move to within four points of Chelsea until the Blues play against Bournemouth that evening.
Pochettino will be hoping for a repeat of Spurs’ 4-1 win against Watford last time out at Vicarage Road, that saw Alli and Harry Kane both score twice in Hertfordshire.
In other Tottenham news, Ben Davies has made this bold claim and claims two of Spurs’ stars will prove instrumental.
