Roberts can be a 'big part' of Leeds plans after Bielsa 'vote of confidence'
Alex McLeish has backed Tyler Roberts to be an important cog in the Leeds United system next season after signing a new contract.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, underlined how much faith boss Marcelo Bielsa has now placed in him.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (June 16th) that Gabby Agbonlahor tipped Roberts to keep improving after he confirmed his new deal last week.
Roberts, 22, broke into the side towards the end of last season due to injuries to Rodrigo and scored his first ever Premier League goal against Southampton in May.
“It’s a measure of trust that the manager has in him,” McLeish told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge. “That, for me, speaks volumes.
“When Leeds offer a new contract, it’s with the say-so of (Marcelo) Bielsa.

“That tells you how much he likes the guy, it’s a vote of confidence.
“It looks like he’s going to have a big role at Leeds. He had one or two really good performances just at the end of the season.”
As revealed by Football Insider on Sunday (June 13th), Ex-Whites defender Danny Mills called on Roberts to use his new contract as motivation to find the ‘next level’ at the club.
The 12-cap Wales international has scored eight goals in 82 games in all competitions since signing from West Brom in January 2018.
