Robinson delivers 'huge' Clarke verdict after Gold's Tottenham update
Paul Robinson has claimed it is “a huge year” in Tottenham attacker Jack Clarke’s career.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one suggested the 20-year-old could play his way into the first team if he impresses in pre-season.
Football.London‘s Alasdair Gold reported on July 4th that the winger will be sent out on loan next season unless he blows away Nuno Espirito Santo in pre-season.
Clarke has struggled to establish himself in Tottenham’s first-team since since signing from Leeds United in July 2019.
He has been loaned out three times since joining, with his most recent spell at Stoke City.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Clarke’s situation, Robinson said: “He has not had a chance yet.

“He has not been given an opportunity. You can only judge him when he has been given that.
“He had a big money move at a young age from Leeds but has been out on loan since then.
“If a player is not going to be in and around the squad with an opportunity of playing he is far better going out on loan. Players are much better off playing first-team football at lower clubs than playing in the Under-23s. The experience is invaluable.
“With Nuno coming in, he has a chance to break into the side. I would think that if he is good enough, he is of an age now where he can be a regular feature in the side.
“It is a big year for him because of his age and where he is at in his career. This is a huge year, he has to prove himself, whether that be at Tottenham or elsewhere.”
