Exclusive: Robinson names Spurs player who's profited most from Pochettino sack
Eric Dier is the player who has benefitted most from Jose Mourinho’s appointment at Tottenham, according to Paul Robinson.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former White Hart Lane number one heaped praise on the 26-year-old who nearly quit under Mauricio Pochettino and came close to joining Man United for £50million.
Dier has started all but one Premier League game this season and has emerged as a key figure in Jose Mourinho’s new-look Spurs side.
Notably, he has played all of his games this season as a centre-half having been predominantly used as a holding midfielder by Pochettino.
This site revealed earlier this month that Mourinho told his coaching staff that Dier was the only player with any “devil” in him when he took over as manager.
When asked by Football Insider if the England international has benefitted the most from Pochettinio’s sacking in November of last year and Mourinho’s subsequent arrival, Robinson said:

“Absolutely, he is the player that has benefitted from Mourinho’s appointment the most. He has massively improved.
“I think he was potentially going to leave the club under Pochettino.
“Mourinho has turned him into a centre-half. He is not chopping and changing between midfield and defence, he is playing at centre-half regularly. It has helped him and the team.
“He has always been a player Jose has liked. At Manchester United he nearly signed him for £50million at one point.
“Dier clearly likes to play under Mourinho and that relationship is working. He looks settled in at centre-half. It is a decision that has worked.”
