Robinson fears for Tottenham after 'massive' Alderweireld update
Paul Robinson has claimed “it is a massive blow” to hear star defender Toby Alderweireld wants to quit Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one fears the 32-year-old would be a “big loss” to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side ahead of next season.
The Athletic reported on July 2nd that the Belgium international has told the club he wants to leave and is confident of gaining a move after the Euros finish.
It is said that Tottenham will not stand in Alderweireld’s way, with new director of football Fabio Paratici already on the hunt for new centre-halves.
Alderweireld, who has two years remaining on his contract in north London, joins Harry Kane in the exit queue at Spurs.
When asked by Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs for his thoughts on the news, Robinson said: “It is a massive blow to hear that.

“I really think he would be a big loss. He’s the best Spurs have got currently.
“The centre-half position is a real problem area for Spurs. They struggled in that department all of last season.
“It is a position that Nuno will have to address in the transfer market.
“Alderweireld is the best defender at the club but if Nuno is working on a tight budget, and wants to shape the team, then maybe he will cash in. Some players will have to make way and Alderweireld looks like he could be one of them.”
