Paul Robinson is "surprised" Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram has ruled out a move to Rangers this summer.

The former Spurs and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 26-year-old is taking "a big risk" by leaving a decision on his future to the last minute.

Rangers are one of a number of clubs to have registered an interest in Lundstram, who revealed last week that his future remains up in the air.

Robinson fears injury or a loss of form could cost Lundstram a big-money move.

"Lundstram needs to be playing at a high level week in, week out if he wants to get a big move at the end of the season," the former England number one told Football Insider.

"It is difficult when you run your contract down if you have not got something sorted out. A lot of players in his position will already know the club they are joining next season, speaking from experience and to other players.

"If he is still trying to impress clubs at this stage he is running the risk of losing form, being dropped from the team or suffering an injury. That is always a big risk to take.

"I am surprised that the Rangers one has not materialised, I thought it was going to come to fruition. He would a great signing for Rangers given the way Steven plays.

"Lundstram needs to play things very carefully."
