Robinson makes big Grant prediction ahead of West Brom campaign

Paul Robinson has tipped Karlan Grant to explode for West Brom in the 2021-22 campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed the 23-year-old will be “a completely different player” this year after a difficult start to life at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies begin their quest for promotion on Friday at Bournemouth and the forward is expected to start after a promising pre-season.

Grant struggled in the 2020-21 campaign following a £15million move to from Huddersfield Town and netted just once in the Premier League.

Robinson believes the step up to the English top flight came too soon for the striker, even though it was his second spell in the division.

“This season West Brom fans will see the best of Karlan Grant,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs. “They will see the Grant that they paid big money for.

“The Premier League was a big step up for him and he found it very difficult to start off with. He never gained his confidence and we never saw the brilliant player who was in the Championship.

“I think now, back in the Championship with a full pre-season under his belt at West Brom, we will see a completely different player.

“I expect him get the goals to give them a real chance of returning straight back to the Premier League. This season I expect him to establish himself and prove his doubters wrong.”
