Paul Robinson has heaped praise on the "phenomenal" Lucas Moura after Tottenham beat Aston Villa.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said he is "surprised" the 28-year-old does not start every week for Jose Mourinho's side.

Moura produced an eye-catching display on Sunday night, as Spurs climbed up to sixth in the table and three points off the top-four with a 2-1 win over Dean Smith's side.

The winger assisted Carlos Vinicius' opener at Villa Park - his 16th goal involvement (nine goals and seven assists) across all competitions this season.

He also completed 90 per cent of his passes, won 16 duels and made nine ball recoveries. (Wyscout)

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Lucas' performance, Robinson said:

"Lucas Moura was phenomenal last night.

"He is one of the fans' favourites because has great quality but he also gives 110 per cent every game. His work rate and his final product are fantastic and we saw both against Villa.

"I am surprised he does not play more than he does. I think he will be a regular starter now though.

"He is one of the few survivors from the Zagreb team and that speaks volumes.

"Lucas is a player who I like a lot, he is brilliant. He was great against Villa and he was the best player on the pitch at Arsenal."
