Robinson 'shocked' by Sky latest on Arsenal bid to sign Ramsdale
Paul Robinson is “shocked” Arsenal are considering a third bid for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England number one claimed signing the 23-year-old would be a “big risk” on the evidence of what he’s seen over the past two seasons.
According to Sky Sports (24th July), the Gunners are preparing a third bid in the region of £25million to sign the England international.
Ramsdale will not come cheap as he still has three years remaining on his contract at Bramall Lane.
Mikel Arteta’s side are in the market for a new keeper this summer, having failed to replace Emiliano Martinez following his move to Aston Villa.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Arsenal’s interest in Rasmdale, Robinson said: “I’m shocked, I have to say.

“The best I saw him play was at the end of last season. I wasn’t particularly impressed with him at Bournemouth. They got relegated and shipped a lot of goals. The same happened last season at Sheffield United.
“When teams do get relegated, their goalkeepers generally play well and off the back of that they normally get good moves. Look at Jordan Pickford and look at myself.
“It is because when you play for one of the relegated sides you have a lot of saves to make. The thing is the though, I have not seen that from him. He has not been making those saves.
“For me, it is a lot of money and a big risk. If Arsenal want to replace Leno , I don’t think they are buying better than what they’ve got.”
