The signing of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly would "transform" Everton this summer, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Spurs and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 29-year-old would be a "fantastic" addition to Carlo Ancelotti's squad.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Monday (22nd March) that the Toffees have  made the Napoli centre-back their priority target in the next transfer window.

The Daily Mail reported last year that the Serie A giants valued their prize asset at £89million amid interest from Manchester United.

However, with Koulibaly entering the final two years of his contract this summer, he is likely to be available for a reduced fee in the upcoming window.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the Senegal international, Robinson said: "Wow, if Everton could attract a player like that it could transform them.

"It has been a slow progression under Ancelotti but they are moving in the right direction. He has moved very well in the transfer market so far and you can see his influence.

"It would be fantastic for Everton if they could add a player like Koulibaly to their ranks."

Carlo Ancelotti believes Koulibaly, whom he worked with at Napoli between 2018-19, could have a similar impact at Goodison Park to that of Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool and Ruben Dias at Manchester City.

The centre-half has made 31 appearances across all competitions this season.
