Brendan Rodgers delivers verdict on Liverpool top-four chances after Crystal Palace defeat

Brendan Rodgers expects Liverpool to finish in the top four of the Premier League despite their 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side suffered their sixth top-flight loss of the season against Sam Allardyce’s Eagles, as former Reds striker Christian Benteke came back to haunt his old side with a brace.
Now with Scottish champions Celtic, Rodgers told talkSPORT that despite Man United having two games in hand over Liverpool, he thinks the Reds will still finish in the top four of England’s top flight.
“With the games Liverpool have left they would expect themselves to qualify,” Rodgers said. “They haven’t got European football, so they’re just preparing for that one game a week.
“Man United have got a couple of games in hand, but towards the end of the season that can be tough and they’ve got other games in the Europa League and maybe they’ll see other priorities.

“Liverpool have points in the bag, they’ve won more games and if they win their next four games or so hopefully that’ll be enough for them.”
Liverpool currently remain in third despite Sunday’s loss, as Philippe Coutinho’s first-half free-kick was wiped out by Belgium international Benteke’s brace.
Klopp’s side sit in third place in the Premier League, two points above Man City and three above Jose Mourinho’s United, while both Manchester clubs have two games in hand.
Liverpool will be hoping for a repeat of their 6-0 win against Watford earlier in the season as they travel to Vicarage Road on May 1 to face Walter Mazzarri’s Hornets.
