Brendan Rodgers must hold his nerve on Sunday’s Old Firm derby against Rangers and go with rarely seen full-back Cristian Gamboa for the potential title-winning fixture.
With Mikael Lustig reportedly out of the battle after breaking his toe, it has highlighted a gaping hole in the squad.
Reverting to a back three with Jack Hendry on the right would not be a viable option given the strength the Light Blues have down the left of attack.
While Gamboa has been out of the side for much of the season – and has not featured since February – he would at least allow the Hoops to play their usual style and retain a formation they know inside out to maximise their chances of bagging Championship number seven.
It would be a gamble for sure, but one if pulled off well could give the Costa Rica international an opportunity to stake a place for himself back in the first team being cast aside, as well as giving Rodgers another alternative in the position.
A masterstroke or not, the Bhoys are slim with their options for the game and if they want to stick it to Rangers on Sunday, then this is their best option.
