Rodgers confirms Celtic January transfer plans after one deal done

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers revealed he hopes for one or two more signings in January after adding Marvin Compper to his squad.

In his pre-match conference for the Hoops’ game against Aberdeen, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, the manager spoke of Celtic’s transfer ambitions.

“I’m very happy with the squad but you always have to strengthen and I think January is a good month for us to do that,”said Rodgers.

“Marvin’s in, so that’s great, he’ll join us out in Dubai and then hopefully we can have maybe one or two more.”

Compper signed for the Bhoys on Wednesday joining the club from RB Leipzig for an undisclosed fee.

Rodgers is reportedly close to announce the signing of Lewis Morgan from St Mirren, who Celtic apparently beat Rangers to sign.

With their current squad Celtic went on a record 69 game domestic unbeaten run and sit atop of the Scottish Premiership this season.

The Hoops are five points clear of second placed Aberdeen and eight points clear of bitter rivals Rangers who sit third.

With Rodgers’ team playing Aberdeen on Saturday, the Hoops can extend their lead at the top to eight points.

The Bhoys won 3-0 when the two sides met in October with Moussa Demble grabbing a brace and Kieran Tierney grabbing a goal.

Celtic go into this game having beaten Partick Thistle 2-0 on Wednesday to bounce back from their first league loss suffered at the hands of Hearts.

Hearts ran out 4-0 winners to end the Hoops’ unbeaten streak with Manuel Milinkovic grabbing a brace in that game.
